Palanpur, and Radhanpur are the main towns. The headquarters town Palanpur is famous for the perfumeries, Banas dairy, Vadhiyari buffaloes, and the Kankrej cows. This town is noted for its contribution of manpower to India's diamond industry and trade. Marble quarries and copper deposits enrich Banaskantha. The main crop is Bajra. There is an agricultural university at Dantiwada.
Ambaji and Kumbaria Temple are popular pilgrim centers. Kumbaria temple is noted for its marble carvings. Balaram is a well known picnic spot.
