Yellow-wattled Lapwing (Vanellus malarbaricus) is a local and apparently declining resident in North India. The bird is smaller and slighter with comparatively longer legs. The crown is neat and black, in the adults, and bordered by a white line. Its legs are yellow. During flight, the bird displays a similar pattern to the Red-wattled Lapwing with black tail and flight feathers and white rump and wing bar. The bird prefers drier open areas usually with bare sand or mud.
