Mollem Wildlife Sanctuary

Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary



Mollem Wildlife Sanctuary is situated at Mollem, which is around 60 km from Panaji in Goa. This sanctuary covers an area of about 240 sq km of tropical evergreen forest, semi evergreen and moist deciduous forest. Deer, gaur, monkeys, elephant, leopard, sloth bear, flying squirrel, Malayan giant squirrel, porcupine, civet, cat, jungle fowl, tigers and a few black panthers inhabit the sanctuary. Famous for king cobras, the sanctuary is home to other snakes such as python, krait and viper. About 200 species of birds are also found.
