Siolim

Siolim in North Goa District is one of Goa's most enchanting villages. It lies to the extreme north-west point of Bardez taluk, on the palm-bedecked banks of the Chapora River. The village is about 10 km north of Calangute and 3 km from Anjuna.

Surrounded by water and the forests of Marna, Siolim is the last 'bourgeois' village in the north of the state. A full day excursion trip in this village offers enroute number of ancient churches, industries and monuments. Casa Palacio Siolim House, a 300-year old Portuguese building, offers excellent and comfortable accommodation in the village.

Major point of attraction is the St Anthony Church. It houses a beautiful statue of St Anthony, on the church frontispiece, with a serpent dangling on a rope in his right hand. Calangute Beach, Anjuna Beach and Vagator Beach are some tourist places around.

Mapusa Railway Station is the nearest railhead. Goa Airport serves Siolim. About 30 minutes is required to reach Siolim from Panaji and 10 minutes from Mapusa.
