Sanquelim Fort is on the left bank of the Sanquelim River, originating from the
Mandovi River. It is about 42 km from
Panaji. The fort was captured by the marquise of Alorna in 1746. It was considered as an important military point. The fort is one of the protected monuments of
Goa.
