Benaulim Beach is a quiet beach that starts off from the
Colva beach. According to Hindu mythology, it was at this place where the shaft of the axe of
Lord Parashuram landed. Thus Benaulim holds a significant position in
Goa's history.
The beach is fairly crowded on weekends and in the evening. The tourist can spent time idly by soaking in the sun at this beach. Dolphin Cruises are a main attraction of this beach. Snacks and drinks are offered by the nearby kiosks.
The village surrounding Benaulim beach is well known for its handicrafts. The Church of St John the Baptist, situated on a hilltop beyond the village is a must see in Benaulim. The feast of St John the Baptist, celebrated at the onset of monsoon, is a big event here.
