Menezes Braganza Institute at
Panaji is a scientific/historical institute, formerly called Institute Vasco da Gama. It was founded in 1871 and was renamed in commemoration of Menezes Braganza, a notable freedom fighter. Located at Dr.Pissurlenkar Road, several artifacts including the famous "Inquisition table" are included in this institute.
Central Library, one of the oldest public libraries in India, founded in 1832 is also housed here. The library has a rich collection of historical books from the collections of the various religious orders. The Menezes Braganza Institute holds exhibitions of the paintings of European artists of the 19th and early 20th century and Goan artists of the 20th century.
Visiting hours are Monday to Friday 0930 - 1300 and 1400 -1745 hrs.
