Basilica of Bom Jesus




The Basilica of Bom Jesus, the most popular and famous of all churches in Goa was built in the 16th century. It is dedicated to Infant Jesus and is considered as a World Heritage Monument. The relics of St Francis Xavier, patron saint of Goa are kept here. The exterior design of the church displays a blend of Doric, Corinthian, and composite style architecture. The church has three storey facades, which is further divided into four parts beautified with pillars and carvings. The interior of the Basilica is built in Mosaic-Corinthian style. Main altar dedicated to Infant Jesus is decorated in gold. There are altars that are dedicated to Our Lady of Mercy and St Michael. Liturgical altar has also been set up in the church.

The church is open on Sundays from 10 00 to 18 30 hrs, weekdays from 9 00 to 18 30 hrs.
Masses: Sundays : 8 00 and 9 15 hrs
Weekdays : 07 00 and 08 00 hrs
