Naroa

Narve



Also known as Narve, the village of Naroa is in Bicholim taluk. The village is located about 5 km from Bicholim. Naroa is easily accessible through Divar. Among the several temples here, Saptakoteshwar temple is the oldest temple and has great significance in history. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and the shivling here is positioned in an archeologically important area. Several laterite and stone caves are found in the vicinity. The ruins of Jain Math, a Jain temple is also found there.

Towards the south-east of Naroa lies the hillock where there is a temple of Masandevi. The place is famous for its ‘Naroa Teerth’. The bones of the departed ones are immersed into the Teerth in order to grant eternal rest for their souls.

There are two important springs in the village. They are Vhoddli Zhor and Dhakti Zhor. Set comfortably in a dense forest, the Vhoddli Zhor is also known as Kapil Teerth. Among the two springs, the Vhoddli zhor is the more popular picnic spot. The village of Naroa is an ideal tourist destination with its caves, springs, and historically important temples.
