St Xavier's College, founded by the Archdiocese of Goa in 1963, is a full-fledged college located at
Mapusa, the headquarters of
Bardez taluk in
North Goa District. Mapusa is about 13 km south of
Panaji, capital city of
Goa.
The college is named after St Francis Xavier, a world renowned Jesuit missionary from Spain. Affiliated to Goa University, it offers bachelors and masters degrees in the fields of science, arts and commerce.
Spread over an area of 22 acres of land, the college is housed in three buildings. It has a three-storeyed science block, a two-storeyed arts block and an administrative block. The college provides the entire necessary infrastructure to assist the students and faculty in their research. It has spacious classrooms, laboratories, computer labs, well-equipped libraries and a hall for cultural activities.
