Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra is one of the leading performing arts institutions of
Delhi. It is located on
Copernicus Marg, one of the main access road to
India Gate in
New Delhi. The center was established in 1952 by a special sponsoring body, Jhankar. Its aim is to train talented dancers dedicated to follow the art as a profession.
The Kala Kendra operates the College of Music and Dance, started in 1952. The college imparts training in Hindustani classical music, kathak, odissi and bharatanatyam. In addition to dance forms, it offers training in musical instruments such as tabla and yota.
The Kendra’s major achievements are the revival of Kathak dance form in to its original dignity and the production of dance dramas in Chhau style. The dance group of Kendra makes various programs and stage performances throughout the nation.
