Established in 1958, the Russian Centre of Science and Culture reinforces the friendly relationship between the peoples of India and the Russian Federation. It was formerly known as the House of Soviet Science and Culture.
Along with other Indian social organizations, associations, and clubs, the center conducts a wide variety of cultural activities including cultural shows, scientific exhibitions, seminars, symposiums, discussions, art and photo exhibitions, meetings, film shows, music concerts, and ballet performances.
The in-house library has about 25,000 books in English,
Hindi, and Russian and a wide collection of video films and periodicals. The center also has an Institute of Russian Language which was started in the year 1961. The School of Russian Classical Ballet trains 50 students every year.
