Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) started its function in 1920. It has its headquarters at
New Delhi.
Promoting humanitarian principles and values, disaster response, disaster preparedness, and health and care in the community are the major areas where IRCS offers its service. Its services include hospital services, maternity and child welfare, family welfare, nursing, community services and blood bank. IRCS provides services to other countries also.
Junior Red Cross and Youth Red Cross are organized in educational institutions for involving students in various humanitarian services at a relatively young age. IRCS has more than 600 branches in India.
