Begampiri Masjid




Begampiri Masjid is one of the seven mosques built By Khan-I-Jahan, the Prime Minister of Feroze Shah Tughlaq. It is situated near the Aurobindo Ashram on the Delhi- Mehrauli Road. The mosque has a large courtyard and a three-aisle deep prayer-hall. The courtyard, 94m x 88m, is enclosed by arched cloisters on all the sides. The facade of the prayer-hall has 24 arched openings and its central compartment is surmounted by a large dome. At the rear, the location of the mihrab in the interior is indicated by five projections. The nearest station is New Delhi Railway Station. Indira Gandhi International Airport, 20 km south of the city, is the nearest airport.
