The All India Institute of Medical Sciences was established in 1956 in
New Delhi. It is an autonomous institution providing teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate education in medical and related physical biological sciences. The institute has been admitting 50 students every year to the MBBS course. It awards postgraduate degree in about 45 different specialties. The Institute has wide-ranging facilities for teaching, research and patient-care. It runs a college of Nursing and has 25 clinical departments including four super specialty centers. The main aim of the institute is to bring excellent educational facilities in all important branches of the health activity. Admission is based on entrance examination conducted all over the country. In addition to MBBS courses, the institute has wide range of other courses such as B.Sc (Hons.)Human Biology, Audiometry, Ophthalmic, Techniques and Radiography.
