Hauz Khas

Hauz Khas lies around 15 km southwest of Connaught place. It is a prosperous locality crammed with boutiques and restaurants. Hauz Khas is on the Aurobindo Marg. An enclosed reservoir known as Hauz-i-Alai is a major tourist attraction here. It was built in 14th century by Alauddin Khilji to supply water to the people who lived in Siri, Delhi’s second city. Several nameless tombs can be seen nearby. Among this, the tomb of Firoz Shah Tughlaq is fine example of Hindu Indian traditions and Islamic architecture. Today, Hauz Khas is a posh residential and commercial locality. The Indian Institute of Technology is also located here.
