Turturiya is a forest village, situated on the banks of the Turturiya Spring (Sursuri Ganga), in
Raipur District of
Chhattisgarh. As a place of great archeological and anthropological interest, Turturiya draws tourists from far and near.
This village holds numerous Buddhist remains of the 8th century and the Brahmanical remains of the later period. Excavations here revealed sculptured pillars, remains of stupa made of fine bricks and traces of bathing ghats, among many others.
Turturiya is about 29 km from Baloda Bazar and 24 km from Sirpur. The nearest airport and railhead are at Raipur.
