Kawardha District




The district of Kawardha is a peaceful and attractive region, which is located on the southern banks of the Sakri River. The total geographical area is 3,958 sq km. Kawardha is divided into two subdivisions, namely Kawardha and Pandariya. The climate is moderate, the maximum temperature in summer is 42°C and the minimum temperature in winter comes down to as low as 15°C. The central east and southern part is plain, whereas the northern and western part consists of mountains. The main rivers originate generally from the Maikal Mountain Range. Bhoramdeo is a historically and archeologically place as this place was the capital of the Nagvanshi kings from about 9th century to 14th century. The archaeological remains of a temple and an old fort constructed by these kings are still present here. Sahaspur Wildlife Sanctuary, Pushpa Sarovar Lake, and Saroda Reservoir are other attractions.
