Bihar is the hub of the 'pinddaan' rituals.
It can be performed at any time of the year, but people prefer to do it before Navratri, during Pitrapaksha (in September). An estimated quarter of a million pilgrims from the country and abroad, including Bangladesh and Nepal, perform 'pinddaan' here.
