Kauleshwari Devi Temple, 1,575 ft high, is situated on top of
Kolhua hill near Hunterganj in
Chatra District. It dates back to the 10th century, and consists of some ruined temples and historical monuments.
The images of Mahishasuramardini, Trishuladharni and Kauleshwari Devi, which are made of black stone, can be found here. A specialty is the figure of Lord Buddha in meditation posture.
The temple is a popular pilgrim center for Hindus, Buddhists and Jains. It is co-related with the epic age, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. Devotees, in large number, visit here during Basant Panchami and Ram Navami.
