Sitamarhi is the administrative headquarters of
Sitamarhi District, in
Bihar. It is a major center for agricultural and industrial trade in the district. Sitamarhi is situated 117 km north-east of
Patna.
Sitamarhi derives its name after Sita, the heroine of the Ramayana. The Janaki Temple, dedicated to her, is a major point of attraction in the town. Excursions to Darbhanga, Areraj,
