Raghunathpur is a small village situated 30 km east of
Buxar in
Bihar. It is located on
National Highway 84, near the border of the
Bhojpur and
Buxar districts, and is about 26 km west of
Arrah.
Raghunathpur, though situated just 80 km west of Patna, wears a pre-industrial revolution era look and feel. A dirt track connects it with Berhampur, the nearest village 4 km to the north and the only means of short distance transport is on a Tonga other than walking.
Except for the vast expanse of verdant paddy fields on either side of the road, development is still to peep into this small settlement – the hiatus in time is quite evident from its sad state of social development and the deprivation of basic facilities. A journey around here is not a function of distance alone but also a travel back to some point in the past.
Nearest airport is at Patna. Raghunathpur Railway Station is on the Buxar – Arrah rail route of East Central Railways.
