Buxar




Buxar, the administrative headquarters of Buxar District, is a historic town situated at the banks of Ganges, in Bihar. It is a major center for trade and commerce in the district. Buxar is situated 90 km west of Patna.

Buxar occupies an important place in the history of British administered India. It was the venue of the Buxar War, which eventually resulted in East India Company gaining complete control over the whole of Bengal.

Hindu Mythology connects Buxar with Lord Ram. The Vashishta ashram here is visited by pilgrims from far and near.

Nearest airport is at Patna. Buxar Railway Station is a prominent railhead of Bihar. National Highway 84 ends at Buxar.
