Arrah, a city in Bihar, is located on the banks of the Son River in Bhojpur District. It is the administrative center of the district, and has a major rail and road junction. This place is situated 36 miles from the state capital, Patna. In the town there is a temple devoted to goddess Aranya Devi, the goddess of the forest. Arrah was also the scene of fighting between the British and Kunwar Singh during the Indian Mutiny in 1857. Industries include agricultural trade and oilseed milling. There are number of colleges here affiliated to Magadh University.
