Supaul is the administrative headquarters of Supaul District in Bihar. It is about 150 km north-east of Patna.

Madhepura and Purnia constitute interesting excursions outside the town.

Nearest airport is at Patna. Supaul Railway Station is on the Saharsa- Forbesganj line. Nearest major railhead is at Saharsa.
