Rudrapada Temple is an ancient temple located to the east of
Tezpur,
Sonitpur District in
Assam. It is situated on the banks of
Brahmaputra River. The temple is dedicated to
Lord Shiva. The presiding deity here is worshipped in Rudra form.
It is said that devotees believe that a stone in this temple bears the left foot (pada) print of Shiva. According to myths, Rudrapada is the place where Lord Shiva showed his real life to king Bana. The temple was later built by Siva Singha in 1730 AD. Thousands of devotees throng to the temple during Mahashivaratri.
