Sri Mahabhairab Mandir

Sri Mahabhairab Mandir is located on the top of a small hill, north of Tezpur. The history of the temple dates back to the age of Puranas. Archeologists believe that the temple was built between 8th and 10th century by the kings of the Salasthamba Dynasty. The present structure was built by monk Sri Swayambar Bharati, popularly known as Naga Baba. There are large shivlings inside the temple. Cement-concrete idols of Lord Ganesh and Lord Hanuman are in the entrance of the temple. Tezpur Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
