A versatile genius, Sankaradeva was a Vaishnavite poet of the 16th century. He is credited with the introduction of 'Ekasarana Nana Dharma' (the religion of total surrender in the name of god) based on the
Bhagavata and
Bhagavad Gita.
An expert in the various branches of Indian literature and theology, Sankaradeva aimed at religious and social reforms. Rukmini-Harana, Bhakti Ratnakara, and Kirtana Ghosha are his popular works.
