Pao Mecca Mosque




Pao Mecca Mosque, popularly known as 'One fourth of Mecca' Mosque, is a highly revered shrine at Hajo, about 25 km west of Guwahati. Devotees consider this mosque as holy as Mecca. Built in 1657 by Pir Ghiasuddhin Aulia during the period of Shah Jahan, it is popularly held that this mosque owns one quarter of the sacredness of Mecca. Devotees believe that one can acquire the same spiritual benefit by praying here. The famous Hayagriva Madhav Temple and the tomb of Ghiasuddhin Aulia are nearby attractions.

Guwahati Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead (32 km) and the nearest airport is Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.
