Pallas’s Fish-Eagle (Haliaeetus leucoryphus) is a fine eagle commonly seen around lakes, rivers or jheels, often sitting on a sandbank or post. It is a powerful bird, which can kill large fish or other prey. Sometimes they eat carrion, or by robbing other birds. The bird creates havoc at nesting colonies of herons or cormorants. Its barking call is very loud, which can be heard at great distances.
Pallas’s Fish-Eagle can be seen in Kaziranga National Park, Assam.
