Orang National Park, popularly known as mini
Kaziranga, is located on the north bank of
Brahmaputra River in
Darrang District of
Assam. It is around 31 km from
Tezpur and 150 km from
Guwahati.
The sanctuary occupies an area of 72 sq km and is home to great Indian one-horned rhinoceros, elephant, leopard, sambar deer, barking deer, tiger and varieties of water birds, green pigeon, florican, teal and geese.
The best time to visit is November to March.
Rangapara North Railway Station is the closest railhead. The sanctuary is also known as Orang (Rajiv Gandhi) National Park.
