Namrup is located in the south-eastern part of
Dibrugarh District in the far eastern part of
Assam. It is bounded by Tinkhong in the west, Nahorkatiya in the north and Barhat in the south. The two government enterprises, Namrup Thermal Power Station and Brahmputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited function here.
Namrup is around 542 km from Guwahati. Namrup Railway Station on the Tinsukia-Dimapur line is the nearest railway station.
