Jalukbari is a town situated about 12 km to the west of Guwahati, in Kamrup District. Gauhati University, the first University in North East India, has its campus at Jalukbari. Another attraction is the Saraighat Bridge, the first road cum rail bridge connecting the north and south banks of the mighty Brahmaputra River. K.K. Hendique Library, Guwahati University Library, Assam Engineering College and North Eastern Regional Forest Rangers' College are also situated here.
