Pabitara Wildlife Sanctuary




Pabitara (Pobitora) is a small wooded region in Morigaon District in Assam, in between the Brahmaputra and Kalang Rivers, covered mostly by tall grass, and only 16 sq km in area. Declared as a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1987, Pabitara is famous for rhinoceros and avian fauna including crane, stork, florican, pheasant and swamp birds. It is also home to wild buffalo, wild boar, leopard, monkey and jackal.

The nearest airport is Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport and Jagiroad is the nearest railway station.
