Dispur, the capital of the state of
Assam, is a well planned city located on the Guwahati-Shillong route and is 10 km east of
Guwahati. It is famous as the auction market for tea in the state.

National Highway 31, 37 and 40 and hence has regular bus links with all major cities and towns of the north-eastern states.
