Chomangkan is an important festival of the Karbi tribe belonging to
Assam. It is a means by which this tribe pays respect to the departed souls.
There is no fixed period for celebrating this festival. An appropriate time is chosen according to the convenience of the people. Once the festivities begin, they are carried on non-stop for 4 days and 4 nights. It is necessary for every member of this tribe to attend the festival.
