Chinese Pangolin (Manis pentadactyla) is found in north-eastern India. The color of scales varies from dark brown to blackish brown. Hair and un-scaled skin are grayish white or brownish white.
Head and body length is around 450 to 600 mm and tail is around 250 to 400 mm. The forefeet claws are stronger than hind feet. The tail more than half of the head-body length and is brown in color. Scales and other parts are used for medicinal purposes or as aphrodisiac.
The animal can be spotted in the Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary of Assam.
