Barpathar is a small town in
Karbi Anglong District of
Assam. It is an important town from an archeological point of view. The archeologists have unearthed the remains of an 8th century temple made of square bricks and a stone inscription of
Brahmi characters belonging to the 5th century at Dubaroni in this town.
Barpathar is a beautiful tourist spot with easy access to the famous Kaziranga National Park, hot water springs of Garampani (10 km), and surrounding tea gardens.
National Highway 39 passes through Barpathar. Nearest airport is at Dimapur. Golaghat Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
