Walong is a picturesque place in
Lohit District of
Arunachal Pradesh. It is about 220 km east and a chopper takes you there in 40 minutes.
During the Indo-China war of 1962, the Chinese army had intruded up to Walong. Walong War Memorial here stands in memory of the brave soldiers who laid their lives defending the country. The Lohit River flows through the region. About 2 km north is Dong, a tourist attraction.
Tezu Airport is the nearest airport. Tinsukia Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
