Temminck's Golden Cat (Catopuma temmincki) is medium-sized, powerfully built cat with fairly long with a rather long tail. The head and body length varies between 75 cm and 105 cm, tail length 49 to 56 cm, and weighs 7 to 15 kg. The underside of the tail is white, upper side dark.
The head is small with a heavy muzzle. The inner slide and the lower margin of the eye are lined with conspicuous white stripes. The snout pad is flesh-colored and upper margin is black. Iris is grayish green or amber, and pupils are contracting into vertical ovals or circles. The color of the coat is red, brown or gray, and more or less heavily spotted. Chest, belly, and the inner side of the legs are cream or white with more or less distinct dark spots.
Temminck's Golden Cat lives in dense tropical or sub-tropical forest, though it has also been spotted at altitudes up to 10,000 feet in the eastern Himalayas. It is a nocturnal species.
