Bhalukpong is located in
West Kameng District of
Arunachal Pradesh. It is close to
Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border and is 60 km north of
Tezpur. Bhalukpong is a wonderful place for wildlife enthusiasts, nature lovers, hikers, rafters and anglers. The little town is on the
Kameng River and lies along the dense forests that form the border of the
Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary.
The prime attractions are Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary and Tipi Orchidarium. Rafting in the Kameng River is another major draw. Angling season begins in early October and continues until April. Bhalukpong is also worth a visit at the time of the Nyethidow festival in March. Tawang and Bomdila, located northwest of Bhalukpong, are major tourist attractions. Kaziranga National Park lies southeast of Bhalukpong.
Certain ancient ruins found strewn around Bhalukpong, also constitute a major tourist attraction. There are many forts in the place, built during the 10th to 12th centuries. The forts are believed to be the monuments of some defeated kings of Assam, of that period. About 3 km northwest from Bhalukpong, on the banks of the Bharali River, a few stone blocks and brickbats are found on the slope of a hillock. Other ruins found in Bhalukpong are some bricks, stone remnants, a pond and a brick well.

Assamese and English. Nearest airport and railhead are at Tezpur, which is 1100 km from Kolkata. Bhalukpong is easily accessible by road from Tezpur.
