Lower Dibang Valley District is in the eastern part of the state of
Arunachal Pradesh. Lush hills and deep valleys make it a land of enchanting beauty. The district owes its name to River
Dibang, one of the important tributaries of the mighty
Brahmaputra.
Eighty percentage of Lower Dibang Valley District is covered with forest. The area of Lower Dibang Valley is approximately 3,900 sq km. The district is bounded in the north by the Dibang Valley District, east by the
Lohit District and the McMohan Line and south by the Tinsukia District of Assam.
Roing is the administrative center.
Idu-Mishmis, Adi, Mishings and Galo are the major tribes. The main festivals are Reh, Solung, Ke-Meh-Ha, Ali-Aa-Ligang and Mopin. The nearest railway station and airport are at Tinsukia and Chabua respectively. Paddy, maize, mustard and millet are the main agricultural products.
