Se La

Sela Pass



Se La (14,000 ft) is the world’s second highest motorable pass. It is about 100 km from Bomdila and lies on West Kameng District's border with Tawang District.

It was a battle field between the Indian and Chinese armies during the war of 1962. Trek route through the pass leads to the Tawang Monastry. Situated amidst rich scenic bliss, it is a favorite haunt for ice skaters during winters. Bangajung Gompa, a Buddhist cultural center, Paradise Lake, Se la temple are another points of attraction in the region.

October to February is the best season for trekking. The pass can be reached by bus from Bomdila and Dirang.
