Named after Acharya Nagarjuna, the great Buddhist preceptor, the Nagarjuna University is located on
National Highway 5 between the cities of
Vijayawada and
Guntur in
Andhra Pradesh. It is a State University.
It has two postgraduate centers - at Nuzvid (Krishna District) and Ongole (Prakasam District) - along with the campus college. The university has 34 departments and 15 affiliated colleges. The colleges of Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam districts of Andhra Pradesh come under Nagarjuna University.
Its library, the Ambedkar Memorial Library, houses about 100150 books, microfilms and microfiche, theses, government reports, periodicals, Indian journals and foreign journals. University Science Instrumentation Centre has the scientific equipment/instruments to facilitate research works. There is a well equipped physical education unit.
