Sirpur is located in
Adilabad district of
Andhra Pradesh. It rests on the banks of river Wardha. Sirpur is around 80 km east of
Adilabad.
Sirpur, formerly known as Suryapuram, was ruled by the Gond King, Ballala. Sipurt Fort is a major tourist attraction. Distinction of the town is the Sirpur Paper Mills, one of the biggest paper mills in India and hence the name Sirpur Kagaznagar. First class cricket matches are held on the Sirpur Paper Mills ground.
Hyderabad Airport is the nearest airport. Sirpur also has a privately owned airport.
