Silk Cotton Tree is a large sized tall, deciduous tree common in
Assam, Andaman and West Bengal. It is also found in India, Burma and Sri Lanka. It belongs to the family Bombacaceae. The tree has a straight, buttressed trunk and widespread branches. Its gum has aphrodisiac, astringent, demulcent, malaena, and menorrhagia properties. The flower is useful as haemorrhoids. The roots possess stimulant and tonic properties.
