Ramalingeswara Temple

Ramalingeswara Temple is a beautiful shrine located at Tadpatri, in Anantapur District of Andhra Pradesh. The temple enshrines a swayambhu idol of Lord Shiva.

Most noteworthy feature of the temple is that there is a perennial underground stream, from which water always drips into the 'Garbha Griha' (sanctum sanctorum), exactly at the spot where the Shivling is sanctified.

‘Shiva Purana’ is depicted on the temple walls. The temple has a number of sculptures and some descriptive events from Ramayana and Mahabharata.

It is believed that the temple sands at the very same spot where sage Lord Parashuram lived and performed penance.

The Car Festival, celebrated annually on Shivratri, draws thousands of people from far and near.
