Panakala Narasimhaswamy Temple

Sri Panakala Narasimhaswamy Temple is a highly revered shrine located at Mangalagiri, an elephant shaped hill in Guntur District. It is about 13 km south-east of Vijayawada and 21 km to the north-east of Guntur. The temple, situated on top of the hill, is one of the eight important Mahakshetrams (sacred places) in India.

The presiding deity of the temple is Narasimha - the half man and the half lion form of Lord Vishnu. Most noteworthy feature of the temple is that jaggery water, locally known as Panakam, is given as an offering to the deity.
