Ahobila Narasimha Swamy Temple, situated on the Upper
Ahobilam, is the main temple and the earliest of all the nine temples.
Lord Vishnu here appears in his fierce aspect, called Ugra Narasimha, who is the presiding deity of the temple and is known as Ahobila Narasimha Swamy. It is firmly believed the
Lord Narasimha was 'Svayambhu' (self-manifest) here.
On the way to the temple, there are virgin hills and forests with several waterfalls. Nearby the premises of the temple is a sacred stream known as Vavinasi, which joins the
Krishna River.
