Medak Catholic Church is one of the three big churches in South India, situated in
Medak, in
Andhra Pradesh. It is regarded as the single largest diocese in Asia and the second largest in the world after the Vatican. Built in 1924, this imposing solid white granite structure is a fine specimen of Gothic architecture in India.
The main prayer hall of the church is 91 x 45 m. The church features impressive style of vaulting and large windows with colored glasses depicting scenes from the bible and crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The Cathedral can accommodate about 5,000 people. The tower over the entrance is 53 m high.
The nearest airport is at Hyderabad (about 100 km). Kamareddy Railway Station is the nearest railhead (60 km).
